Research Component
So that we may better understand what is needed for female engineers to engage in international research collaborations, we ask the participants to answer key survey questions as part of the application process. The survey questions focus on respondents' experiences with international collaborations, research, and gender equity. In addition, approximately 20 participants will be interviewed further about experiences in these 3 areas. The results of the survey will be analyzed and the first stage results presented at the summit. Results will be further analyzed and disseminated through journal articles and the final report for the summit. The results from the summit survey and interviews will contribute to understanding of the factors that facilitate/or inhibit international research and collaborations, as well as gender equity in academic engineering.
Dissemination of Results
The results of the summit will be disseminated widely. A report of the summit activities, presentations, discussions and recommendations will be written after the summit. This report will be submitted to the National Science Foundation and to the European Union funding agencies that have sponsored the summit. Additionally, we have partnered with ASME to disseminate the results both in the US and around the world in several formats that may include both print and electronic media. |
